TRENTON, N.J. – Gender identity and oral and anal sex are just some of the topics covered in the new health and sexual education standards approved by the state Board of Education in June 20202 during the height of Gov. Phil Murphy’s Covid-19 lockdowns. School districts are required to teach them this fall or face penalties, according to state officials.

WATCH: We need curriculum transparency, but not from this proposal

In the “<Three” video released Monday, Reina Smrdelj, a legislative analyst at the Assembly Republican Office, discusses the new curriculum and a Democrat proposal (S2481) that makes the school’s teaching materials public, but does nothing to help parents prevent sexually explicit instruction. In contrast, Republicans sponsor bills (A3763, A3883 and ACR21) that guarantee parents have a say in an age-appropriate public education, protect young children from mature subjects and call on the Board of Education to revise the standards.

“<Three” is the new YouTube series from the Assembly Republican Office that dissects Democrat policies. Watch more <Three videos on the Assembly Republican Office’s YouTube channel.
