TRENTON, N.J. – Assemblyman Alex Sauickie mourns the tragic loss of three U.S. Army Reservists killed in the drone attack in Jordan, who include Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, a New Jersey native.
“Sergeant William Jerome Rivers served this nation and state with great distinction, and his loss is a painful reminder of the cost of Iranian-backed terrorism and the dangers our service members face every day defending our interests in the Middle East,” Sauickie (R-Ocean) said. “I mourn all three of the Army Reservists lost in Jordan, but Sgt. Rivers’ connection to Willingboro and Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst, which is in my legislative district, makes this tragedy more personal. I extend my deepest sympathies to the honorable men and women of the 926th Engineer Brigade, and the family and friends of Sergeant Rivers, Specialist Sanders and Specialist Moffett. May we honor their courage and bravery by ensuring we meet attacks on U.S. troops with a response representative of the strongest and best nation in the world.”
The Pentagon identified the U.S. Army Reservists killed in the drone attack as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria of the 926th Engineer Brigade based at Fort Moore, Ga. Rivers was from Willingboro and first assigned to the 990th Engineer Company at the Joint Base.
Sauickie is a member of the Assembly Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.
