Assembly GOP Leader on Murphy’s new clean energy mandates

Assembly GOP Leader John DiMaio

TRENTON, N.J. – Assembly Republican Leader John DiMaio said Gov. Phil Murphy’s accelerated green energy goals announced Wednesday leave taxpayers in the dark while the government issues more costly mandates:

“Murphy is abandoning his old plan for a worse one at the expense of taxpayers and workers,” DiMaio (R-Warren) said. “He claims there will be consumer choice, but he calls for additional government mandates and laws that will force people into electric cars, limit new homeowners’ access to affordable natural gas, and require builders to meet new standards – the costs of which will undoubtedly be passed onto consumers. The governor refuses to address how much his ambitions will cost taxpayers. By continuing to keep us in the dark, it is clear he doesn’t care if he makes New Jersey less affordable.”
