TRENTON, N.J. – The red and gold logo of the New Jersey Assembly GOP has turned pink to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month of October, the @njassemblygop logo will feature a pink background with a white Statehouse dome to highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness.
Pink is recognized as the universal color to raise awareness for breast cancer detection, treatment and research while honoring those who have been affected by the disease. It is used by sports teams, corporations and other organizations to encourage women to be proactive about their breast health and serves as the color of hope for women and families battling the disease.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer death in American women. New Jersey’s breast cancer statistics mirror these national trends. More than 8,000 new cases of female breast cancer have been reported in the state this year.
To accompany the logo, the New Jersey Assembly GOP released a Facebook video to encourage those touched by breast cancer, admire the survivors, and honor the women who have shown us what it means to be a fighter.
