TRENTON, N.J. – During an Assembly budget hearing Monday, Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver was asked about Gov. Phil Murphy’s private contributions to a group that intervenes in lawsuits against municipalities across the state. Oliver, who also serves as the commissioner of DCA, responded that the function of the donations is no different than the Trump Foundation.
“I don’t think any contribution or charitable support that the Murphy Foundation provides to any charitable organization is any different than what the Trump Foundation provides,” said Oliver.
According to Fair Share Housing’s donor list updated in February, the Phil and Tammy Murphy Family Foundation is listed for the third consecutive year.
The Donald J. Trump Foundation, once billed as the charitable arm of the president’s financial empire, agreed to dissolve in 2018 and give away all its remaining assets under court supervision as part of an ongoing investigation and lawsuit by the New York attorney general.
