Kean calls convicted cop killer’s parole an affront to all law enforcement

TRENTON, N.J. – Assemblyman Sean Kean released a statement Wednesday following news the N.J. Supreme Court ordered the parole of convicted cop killer Sundiata Acoli. In 1973, Acoli shot and killed state trooper Werner Foerster after a traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike.

“The Supreme Court has made a serious error in judgment in regards to the release of Sundiata Acoli, a murderer who fled after taking the life of an officer in the line of duty. The decision is an affront to all our men and women in blue who put their lives at risk serving our communities. State trooper Foerster’s family should not have to endure this injustice. Acoli deserves to spend the rest of his living days behind bars. Foerster’s sacrifice warrants no less.”
