GOP lawmakers grill treasurer, state finance officers on taxes, spending and surplus in Murphy’s budget

TRENTON, N.J. – During an Assembly Budget Committee hearing on Monday, Republican members grilled N.J. state Treasurer Elizabeth Muoio and the Office of Legislative Services on Gov. Phil Murphy’s proposed $49 billion spending plan. From one-shot revenues to fee holidays, Assembly Republican budget officer Hal Wirths, Assemblywomen Nancy Munoz and Aura Dunn, and Assemblymen Brian Rumpf and Gerry Scharfenberger exposed the budget’s impact on taxpayers.

The treasurer and finance officers are scheduled to provide a revenue update to the committee on Wednesday, May 18.
