DiMaso urges patience as vaccine eligibility expands

Serena DiMaso

TRENTON, N.J. – In light of the overwhelming demand at pharmacies and other vaccination sites, Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso called for patience as the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility was expanded yesterday to residents over 65 or with certain medical conditions:

“Discovering the vaccine is in short supply after months of waiting is understandably frustrating, but I’m asking residents to please be patient a bit longer as we expand vaccine access to more residents,” said DiMaso (R-Monmouth).

“Unfortunately, it is difficult to prepare for the enormous volume of traffic to scheduling websites following the addition of 1.5 million eligible seniors over 65. As we all know, vaccine supply is a critical issue across the state and appointments can only be made based on supply.

“While there have been areas I believe could have used more planning, there are a lot of moving parts to this continued vaccine rollout. We should have further information in the next week or so from the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey regarding the specific opening of a vaccine megasite at Bell Works in Holmdel.”
