Business leaders distraught about lack of economic plan, says Wirths

TRENTON, N.J. – Assemblyman Hal Wirths has received numerous calls from businesses about feeling jettisoned by the Murphy administration which is narrowly focusing on stopping COVID-19 without consideration of how long business owners and their employees can put food on the table.

“Everybody I talk to is feeling hopeless about their future,” said Wirths (R-Sussex). “They expected a real plan today by Governor Murphy that would show them how to keep putting food on the table. That buck seems to have been passed on.”

Governor Murphy announced his plan on principles for restoring economic health through public health. No timeline was provided on when those principles would result in action, as those that did provide a timeframe require simultaneous benchmarks.

“There are two sides to every coin,” said Wirths. “Governor Murphy said Reagan was wrong and government is the solution. I say Margaret Thatcher is right and eventually government will run out of other people’s money. Government will be destroyed just like the economy.”
