Bramnick’s call for legislative hearings on coronavirus response supported by Bergen Record legal case

TRENTON, N.J. – Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick said quotes by the Bergen Record’s legal team in news stories Monday calling for more transparency demonstrates the need for legislative hearings.

C.J. Grinnin, who represents The Record, said, “…there is a hostility toward transparency and a complete lockdown of information that reporters need to keep the public informed.”

The statement was in response to the Murphy administration rejecting requests from media outlets seeking public records related to how the state has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last week, Bramnick requested that the Legislature establish a committee to hold virtual public hearings to provide information to the public.
