Atlantic County assemblywoman determined to make a difference for South Jersey

TRENTON, N.J. – As one of eight children raised by a single father, Assemblywoman Claire Swift learned the importance of hard work and perseverance from an early age. The freshman lawmaker’s life and political career are featured in the Assembly GOP mini biography video released Thursday.

While studying abroad in Spain, travelling throughout Europe and visiting her ancestral home in Ireland as a University of Pennsylvania student, Swift says she came to realize how much she loved her hometown. The longtime Margate resident lives on the same street that she grew up on with her husband and three children.

“We need fiscal responsibility. I want my kids to live and work here in New Jersey. I don’t want them to have to move to another state. We have a lot of traditions and family values and I want them to stay here and work here, but we have to make it more affordable,” Swift (R-Atlantic) said. “What I am doing, I am doing for my kids and for the future of South Jersey and New Jersey.”

Swift was sworn into the New Jersey General Assembly in January 2022 and represents Atlantic County in Legislative District 2.
